Shopify simply explained

It is now widely known that Shopify is a great e-commerce platform. When Shopify was launched in 2005, setting up an e-commerce shop took a lot of time and expertise. Today, it’s a whole different story, because with a few clicks of the mouse and a little typing, you can set up your own shop on the Internet in minutes.

There is definitely a reason why Shopify is so popular. It’s probably because creating a store has never been easier. There are currently over 500,000 active stores and together they have a total revenue of over 40 billion.

In this article, I’ve put together a simple checklist for you. I will go into more detail about every single step here in this post.

This is how you create your first product for your shop:

Click on products in the admin area of Shopify
Click on: Add product
Enter a title for your product and other details
(e.g. product descriptions, pictures, prices, shipping details, weight…)
Click on save product

Congratulations, your first product is ready to go online. Sending a single product online makes little sense in most cases, except in the case of a One-Product-Shop. As you can read in the success story of Scott Hilse in this Oberlo article.

But if you don’t plan to do so, we recommend setting up a whole range of products to create a complete picture and then putting it all together online. It’s best to create the categories or products so that they fit together. So either a mobile phone accessories shop, or just clothes, or just decoration articles. Otherwise it becomes a big mess and the customer does not know exactly where to navigate.
